Library Timings
    General Monday – Saturday 8.00 am - 9.00 pm
    Vacation Monday – Saturday 9.00 am – 5.00 pm
    The Library remains closed on all Sundays and Public Holidays. 

    Code of Conduct
    1. Users must carry their ID cards in the library. Users may not refer to, or borrow books without ID cards. ID cards are non-transferable.
    2. Users are requested to maintain silence in the library reading area and the Computer Lab. Users should be vigilant when conducting themselves in the library and avoid unnecessary noise e.g. the dragging of chairs.
    3. University dress-code is applicable while visiting library on all occasions.
    4. Users should ensure that when browsing through books they replace the item from where it was taken, according to the shelf arrangement. Feel free to seek staff assistance for replacing the books.
    5. Users should avoid taking out several volumes of reports, journals and books at any one moment. Where possible users should limit themselves to having no more than four items on their reading table while using library resources.
    6. The library reading area should be used only for reference and consultation of resource materials.
    7. All cell phones should be switched off when in the library. Any violation will attract confiscation of the cell hones. In such cases cell phones will be returned only at the end of the course.
    8. Users are prohibited from listening music or watching movies on their laptops inside the library.
    9. Users should fully cooperate with the library staff. They should refrain from unnecessary arguing/gossiping with the staff. In case of need they should meet the Librarian.
    10. The persistent defaulters of various library rules will have their library services suspended. 
       Circulation

    All transactions (issue & return) are to start and close as per the following timings.

    1. Users cannot borrow copies of the same book.
    2. Issue of books stops, a week before every exam. This being done to ensure equal reading opportunity among the students. The students have to return the outstanding library books and deposit Library dues, if any.
    Return/Renew
    1. Books must be returned on or by due dates.
    2. Where the due date falls on a University holiday, the return period will be considered as extended by one day. However, users are advised to check the Library Notice Board regularly.
    3. A book may be renewed any number of times provided there is no reservation placed on the book. The renewal of books is subject to the item having not been reserved by another user.
    4. Users may reserve two different books at a time.
    5. Books may be reserved through OPAC.
    6. User must collect the reserved book by 6.30 pm, failing this the book will be issued to next user demanding the book or replaced on the shelf. It is the responsibility of the user to verify whether the reserved book is available for collection.
    7. Users must return all outstanding library books and deposit Library dues, before the commencement of examination. 
      Reference Books
      1. Reference books are not for issue and to be referred inside the Library.
      2. Under no circumstances reference books will be issued either for classroom reading/reference or for reading outside the library.
      3. Reference books may be taken for photocopy after taking due approval of the Librarian or the staff in-charge of Reference Section.
      4. Users are advised not to leave reference books with the photocopier. 
        Penalty for Overdue Books
    1. The penalty for the late return of books is fixed at Rs. 5/- per day.
    2. Fines will be calculated taking into account all days following the due date, up to and including the actual date of return. Sundays and holidays will also be included in the calculation of fines.
    3. Fines should be paid in the Library itself. 
      Journals/Reports
    1. Journals and Reports are not for loan.
    2. To refer/consult the loose parts of Journals/Reports/Magazines/Newspapers, a requisition in a prescribed form is to be submitted in advance. The user must ensure the safe return of items on the same day.
    3. Users must take care of the journals/ reports taken for photocopy and should ensure its safe return. 

      Lost/Damaged Library Resources
    While borrowing, the condition of the materials must be noted. The library will calculate damaged and lost books as per the following;
    Damaged books
    The library will charge Rs. 100/- for repairs and Rs. 200/- for repairs and rebinding, if necessary.
    Lost Books
    Cost recovery formula for lost books will be calculated as per the following. Books marked with pen or pencil will also be considered as lost books since such books cannot be kept in the library for future use.
    The Cost has four components:
    1. Current price of the book: This is calculated considering the inflation @ 5% every year, from the date of publication (compounded), over the original price.
    2. Current exchange rate: If the original book was priced in foreign currency, current exchange rate for that currency will be considered.
    3. Processing cost: Rs 100/ per book.
    Penalty: Penalty for loss will be calculated as per the table below:

    Total Cost = (a x b) + c + d
    The re-imbursement should be paid within thirty days of the lost or damaged item being reported. 
    Photocopy Service
    The Library photocopy service is available from 9.00 am to 8.00pm 
    Computer Lab and Electronic Resources
    1. Computer and Electronic Resources should be used only for academic research purposes and for accessing the subscribed databases.
    2. Users are advised to follow instructions given by the Computer Instructor when handling the PCs and take the instructor’s help in case of system or internet malfunctioning.
    3. Personal laptops are not allowed in the Computer Lab. Laptops may be used in the Reading Area.
    4. Online databases subscribed can be accessed in the computer lab. 
      Internet Access
    1. Users are requested to configure their laptops through the system administrator.
    2. Users are required to collect username and password from the system administrator for using the internet. They are also advised to follow the procedures as instructed by the system administrator.
